My Review
Looking in from the outside you may venture to say the Rooney family were living the ideal life. She is a retired nurse he's the handsome doctor with a full practice who travels a lot. They own homes in Silicon Valley and Hawaii, flew first class and stayed in five-star hotels. Their four children were all in college. But is life as prefect as it appears through those rose colored glasses? Probably not! In 2010 Julie Rooney is seriously sick , at 48 years old she had a multitude of diseases and has been taking so many drugs to combat them for so many years that her body is on it's last legs. Doctor's offer her drugs for everything to help manage her symptoms but never offer her the hope of a cure. Her marriage is falling apart and her husband, that great catch the doctor is seeing other women. She know she must act and act now. Through nutritional pure juices, giving up her vices,(cigarettes, unhealthy eating, drinking pop),exercise and a less toxic environment even though it takes years she amazes them all and is able to get off all medicines and lose weight. The doctor's are all amazed at her miraculous recovery. Just proves how strong the will to live is and the body's ability to heal itself when we consume the proper nutrition. Very interesting and informative book! Published May 1st 2019 by Gatekeeper Press I was given a complimentary copy of this book. Thank you. All opinions expressed are my own.

GoodReads Summary
Julie Rooney was forty-eight years old in the summer of 2010, and to anyone looking in from the outside, she appeared to be living the dream. She and her husband owned houses in Silicon Valley and Hawaii, flew first class and stayed in five-star hotels. Their four children were all in college. But Julie was on her last legs. She suffered from Addison's disease, Crohn's colitis, diabetes and hypothyroidism, and after years of synthetic steroids she weighed almost 200 pounds. She had blood drawn more often than most women had their nails done. The bones in her feet were as brittle as glass, and the team of doctors who had cared for her for years had run out of ideas. "If your illnesses don't kill you," her endocrinologist told her, as gently as she could, "the drugs will." And then, when Julie had nearly given up hope, a scrap of paper with a hastily scrawled name and a phone number changed her life. Eighteen harrowing months later, against all odds, she had weaned herself off all her medications and her labs had come back normal for the first time in more than ten years. The lessons she learned during her extraordinary journey of healing will resonate with all those who have struggled to regain their health, and more importantly, to understand their own role in the process. "We can heal ourselves and each other with our thoughts, our actions and our stories, and in so doing we can heal the world." - Julie Rooney

Julie Rooney has become a passionate advocate for the roles we take in promoting our own health and well-being. By the time the youngest of her four children had graduated from high school, ten years after her initial diagnosis, doctors told Julie that they had run out of options. But instead of resigning herself to an early death, she decided to try an alternative approach to healing, with the help of a most unlikely guide. Today, Julie Rooney leads a healthy, medication-free life in San Francisco, lives near three of her four adult children and is the proud grandmother of two lively grandsons. This is her first book.
